Overview: Some anglers are just going Gaga over this week’s bass bite. Rumor has it bunker have made their way into Raritan, but unconfirmed reports are still a little sketchy at this time. Anglers are taking nice early season stripers who are showing signs of sea lice, which mean a fresh batch of fish are in from offshore. They are mainly taking clams but shad bodies and plastics are starting to pick up. Most bass action has been at night at changing of the tides.
Long Branch: Beaches in Long Branch are following suit when it comes to bass. Bigger fish are still in the Raritan with smaller fish all the way down to Deal. Long Branch is into keeper bass but they are still skinny and lack nice fillets yet. Flounder guys are having plenty of fun on smaller boats and taking home fillets from each trip. Chumming is a given at this point. Use corn too is you have it.
