Overview: Good news to all those Central Jersey Surf Rats. Keeper fish are coming into the area from Raritan Bay and word has it they are starting to take shad bodies as well as bait. Flounder anglers are reporting a small bag limit on barely legal flatties but it’s still early in the season to get alarmed. Bay and river temperatures are still hovering around 45 degrees for the week and until bunker schools are in, don’t panic!

Manasquan: Small bag limits for the week are haunting flounder anglers. Most action worth mentioning is just south of the Mantoloking Bridge with a strict diet of sandworms only. Shops are reporting lots of chum going out the door so be ready to stain the water if you want flounder fillets. Bass bites are up but keepers are down for this week. Most action is still up past Long Branch.
