Overview: Good news to all those Central Jersey Surf Rats. Keeper fish are coming into the area from Raritan Bay and word has it they are starting to take shad bodies as well as bait. Flounder anglers are reporting a small bag limit on barely legal flatties but it’s still early in the season to get alarmed. Bay and river temperatures are still hovering around 45 degrees for the week and until bunker schools are in, don’t panic!
Pt. Pleasant and IBSP: Party boats are reporting nice flounder and bass numbers but size limits are killing most anglers’ day. Since it’s early in the season, few fish are either up to size or just one out of every 10 is a big keeper. Island Beach State Park has seen good action in Back Bays region with reports of fat bass on sandworms drifted for flounder.
