Overview: Most of New Jersey has witnessed a massive striper run comparable to the fall seasons of long ago. Fish to 46 pounds were taken in the northern half of Jersey and the action just keeps getting better and better. The very tip of Sandy Hook is holding a ton of bunker, but they are starting to flood out of the Raritan Bay. Anglers are starting to use bunker as their main bait of choice. Most shops have fresh bunker every day, but snagging and dropping them is probably the best way to land a monster striper. Fluke are starting to move out of the river systems because of the rain. Killies, spearing and squid are still the best baits hands down.

Keyport: Sandy Hook and south down to Deal is very hot for stripers right now. The ocean side of the Hook has been a little better then inside the Raritan Bay for large stripers. Bluefish in the 2 to 5-pound range are taking cut bait and tins from all major beaches. The Sandy Hook Reef and the Keyport Flats are two great spots for flatties. Anglers are using a 6-inch glow white Gulp! worm with deadly precision. The back of the Raritan Bay near the #3 and #5 cans off of Wards Point is a secret hiding spot for fluke. No sign of weakfish or black drum anywhere in the north.
